HARANA: LOVE LETTERS OF THE DISPLACED

Harana in the Philippines refers to a serenade, a courtship song or a love song often accompanied by a guitar and friends who sing alongside the person expressing their love.

For us, this translated into our love for the culture of Hip Hop and the love we hold alongside those around us. We dove back into our influences to craft the sound scape for this project as we sampled and modeled our work off songs we grew up with.

This idea of expressing love transformed this body of work into letters dedicated to those important in our lives. It’s a letter… it’s a serenade… dedicated to those here with us today and those who will come tomorrow.
