KALAYAAN - “LIBERATION”

For those of you who may not know, we are Sendai Era – our group consists of myself Filipino American emcee, Era – alongside the Japanese American producer/engineer Sendai Mike. Both of us are based out of Seattle, WA.

We spent a lot of our time before the pandemic highlighting people’s stories in our community. Creating music & storytelling as much as we could. But with all the huge shifts in the past few years – we’ve really have  journeyed inward in our work.

We took a pause on releasing content…but we have never stopped creating music. Mike continued to grow in his work as an engineer locally – and I (Era) recently became a new father. Throughout all the changes – we were documenting through music.

With all the shifts – we are excited to announce our latest project “Kalayaan.”

Kalayaan is the Tagalog word for Liberation. A feeling we try to hold on to — and share throughout our music.
